ZooT No Title.......

I was just listening to father father missing my father. I know I shouldn't but for some reason the feeling and sadness I have for anyone unable to grow up with A father should make me feel more thankful and not as concerned about others as I am. It's just me though. I feel terrible knowing someone could grow up without someone to call daddy. I have my daughters pictures on cd from the time she was born until now, and I look at her pictures and just can't understand why so many people can just u… Continue

momowilly My father...a personal examination

My father wasn't around growing up. He was as mysterious as the Bermuda Triangle. My mother never said anything bad about him, but nothing good either. We weren't even allowed to mention his name. My oldest brother told me he was Bruce Lee. I knew Bruce Lee was dead, so that was hard to swallow. He had a Chinese statue and said that our dad's spirit was in it. I was a kid who didn't believe in Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny (wtf IS that??) but I believed that my dad was trapped in a wood carved… Continue

Kangol Young Black Men: A Dying Breed

Without discrimination, I write this as a Black Man and a Father: It is my duty and a privilege to preserve (before it becomes extinct) the dying breed called, “Young Black Men (YBM)”. I, as you may know, have a total of three YBM ages 22, 19 and 15. This is the hardest job that I enjoy doing. As a self-employed individual all of my life, I’ve worked in my home studio (unless I was making an out-of-town appearance or on tour) which basically made me the “Stay-Home-Dad”. Yes, I sign… Continue

Anabela One father, no dad

Even though I have a father, I can’t say I ever had a dad! I was raised by my mother and stepfather who could had take this blessed role but chose to turn it into something else. My father figure was and still is my deceased uncle, he embodied everything a lil girl and a grown up woman idealizes and seeks in a man, the first man of her life and the most important one, EVER. I lost him twice to a WAR, the first time when me family fled from our homeland and later when it took his physical life, o… Continue

Brian West Virginia’s New Putative Father Registry Violates Fathers’ Right to Raise Their Own Children

By Mike McCormick and Glenn Sacks Virginia’s controversial new Putative Father Registry law asks any man who has had heterosexual non-marital sex in Virginia to register with the State. Supporters say the law will help connect fathers with their children before the children are put up for adoption. Critics see it as another example of the erosion of citizens’ privacy. Both sides miss the real point of the Registry--to remove a father's right to prevent his child's mother from giving their child… Continue

NYOIL I Am a Father Advocate

by Archie Wortham "The test of the morality of a society is what it does for its children." Dietrich Bonhoeffer said. Margaret Mead said, "The highest measure of a civilization lies in how it cares for its children." Kids are the fabric upon which our society will be built, and dads, no one is more important in helping them see that, or nurturing them than we are. I'm a dad's advocate. Always have been, even before I knew I was. Will always be one. And I'm trying my best to take as many dads t… Continue
